Shawn Connally
Shawn is managing editor of MAKE and CRAFT magazines. She has been a writer and editor for several publications, including the Marin Independent Journal, Web Review, the Industry Standard, Yahoo Life, Web Techniques, and publications in Japan and New Zealand. Shawn began working for O’Reilly in the mid-90s, writing for GNN, the Global Network Navigator – the web’s first commercial website. She worked as deputy editor of O'Reilly's Web Review, one of the first weekly zines on the internet, and then worked on two Olympic sites and the America’s Cup website (in New Zealand in 1999-2000) for Quokka Sports. She and her husband, Bruce Stewart -- web editor of the O'Reilly MacDevCenter and Emerging Telephony websites -- collaborated on a series of articles for ZDNet about living in New Zealand at the turn of the millennium.

“Now we've got geek DIY (do it yourself) porn. Just as would-be Emerils pore over lushly illustrated cookbooks with recipes involving hard-to-find morels and complicated instructions for roux, Tom Swift wanna-bes are devouring MAKE.”
— Steven Levy, Newsweek
